A Truly Living Church

A few months ago, the Birmingham Catholic Youth Services (BCYS) was asked to contact each parish in the archdiocese, and ask that they nominate one young person to travel to London, to be a part of a large gathering from all over England, Wales & Scotland during the visit of Pope Benedict to the UK.

The Big Assembly

Over 3,000 children from England, Scotland and Wales attended this event and were representatives of their particular Dioceses. St John Vianney Catholic Primary School were the only school from Coventry to attend as part of the Birmingham Archdiocese contingent.

A Mass Of Thanksgiving for the Papal Visit

Archbishop Bernard, celebrated Mass with the priests and people of the parishes of Coventry on Sunday 26 September at the Holy Family Church at 4pm.

Father Richard Duffield is the Actor, the Postulator if you like, for the Cause for the Canonization of Cardinal Newman. Catholic Today met up with him recently and invited him to help us prepare for the Mass in which Pope Benedict will bestow on Cardinal John Henry Newman the title ‘Blessed’.

Archbishop Bernard Longley was Installed as the Ninth Archbishop of Birmingham, in the Metropolitan Cathedral and Basilica of St Chad, Birmingham, during a special Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tuesday, 8 December, one of the two Patronal Feasts of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
