Confetti, speeches, flowers and huge smiles are the order of the wedding day when two people commit to being together for the rest of their lives.

Oscott College, as many will know, is dedicated to Our Lady using the title ‘St Mary’ according to the old English custom.

On Friday 28 October a Mass of Thanksgiving was held at St Mary’s Chapel, Oscott College, to mark the work and retirement of Kevin Caffrey after 20 years service as Director of Father Hudson’s Society.

‘Words Most Wonderful’ - a North Staffordshire Deanery event to mark the first anniversary of Pope Benedict’s visit to England, took place in Holy Trinity Parish, Newcastle-under-Lyme on Saturday 17 September.

The Maryvale Institute at Maryvale House, Old Oscott and the first Catholic home of Blessed John Henry Newman, has been formally erected by the Holy See as the first Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in the English-speaking world.

Francis Mohan walks through Rome on the eve of the beatification of Pope John Paul II. Prayer continued after the Vigil in eight churches in the historical center. In each church meditation was led by a different group.
