The show was a huge success, pulling in an audience of over 350. The show included 20 acts, 15 from St Edmund Campion School and 1 act from 5 of the local primary schools that competed in a Primary round. These schools included, St Gerard’s, SS Mary and John, SS Peter and Paul, The Abbey and St Margaret Mary. Live music was provided by the Perfect Strangers. Prizes were donated by Stone Computers, Celsian Education, Office Options, Artisan and many more.
The Campion winner was John Danaher who performed street dancing to T-Pain by Church, he was closely followed by runner up Gina Byrne who performed ‘One moment in time’ by Whitney Houston. The Primary Round was won by the boys from St Gerard’s who performed Soulja Boy, closely followed by The Sparkling Gems from SS Peter and Paul who performed Complicated by Avril Larigne. Over £1500 was raised for the School’s Mission Week that takes place in June.
‘The show was a great success and featured some extremely talented pupils. John Danaher was a worthy winner who would have no trouble convincing Simon Cowell on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ just how good he is. Last year’s event was huge and was hard to top, but I think we did it, the judges were on top form and all the acts should be very proud of themselves, we look forward to planning ‘Campion X Factor 2009’ – Gary Smart Event Manager.
